| Carol and I, The Robinson's and Pat Flewelling, all SOTC members, attended the International Thunderbird Club 2006 convention this summer and these photos were taken down there on a few of the tours. Most times however, I forgot the camera back at the host hotel! We toured a great automotive museum across from 'Roush Racing' property. One of the only remaining NASCAR raced '59 Thunderbirds was on display in the Nascar Auto Museum, across from Roush Racing. These '59s were known as "Zipper Tops" as the top could be removed for open races "back in the day". We also toured Petty Enterprises. These pictures show the #43 being loaded for the trip to Michigan for a race. More pictures were taken on the 'Petty Enterprises' tour, as I remembered my camera that day. SOTC V.P. Gord Robinson is photographed with the Kyle Petty car #45 as it had just come back from the 'Watkins Glenn' road race. The other photo shows Kyle Petty at his #45 car getting ready for the race in Michigan the following week. We had no idea he was there while on our tour, except that we recognized him. |
